Kathryn B. Johnston was born in Keene, New Hampshire, and received her Juris Doctorate from Franklin Pierce Law Center in 1989. She was honored as one of only two Harry S. Truman Scholars selected from New Hampshire in 1983.

After law school, Ms. Johnston was honored with a federal judicial clerkship in New Hampshire. Ms. Johnston entered private practice by joining a well-established, New Hampshire personal injury law firm in 1990, representing victims of automobile collisions, insurance disputes, medical malpractice, and civil rights abuses at the trial and appellate levels, in both state and federal courts. She moved to Florida in 1996, where she opened the Vero Beach office of the firm that is now Singer & Johnston, LLC. Ms. Johnston is licensed to practice law in Florida and New Hampshire, and is active in both states' trial lawyers' organizations.

Ms. Johnston is a member of the Florida Bar Association, New Hampshire Bar Association, American Trial Lawyers Association, Florida Academy of Trial Lawyers, and New Hampshire Trial Lawyers Association. Ms. Johnston is a former assistant editor of the New Hampshire Trial Bar News. She is a member of the amicus committees of the New Hampshire Trial Lawyers Association and the Florida Academy of Trial Lawyers.

Ms. Johnston has been an outspoken advocate of victims' rights since entering private practice in 1990. Throughout her legal career, Ms. Johnston has dedicated her practice to the representation of injury victims, in both New Hampshire and Florida. Ms. Johnston is a certified member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum — an organization that limits its membership exclusively to trial lawyers who have demonstrated exceptional skill, experience, and excellence in advocacy by achieving a trial verdict, award, or settlement in the amount of One Million Dollars or more.
